Public Service Citation
Each year, APEX honours
someone who is not a public servant, or a Member of Parliament. It should be noted that
people who have been out of public service or Parliament
for at least five years are eligible for this award, which is presented for an
outstanding contribution to the Public Service and/or for having contributed to a better understanding of the Public Service. This APEX Award is given in partnership with Sun Life Assurance Company of Canada.
The APEX selection committee looks for someone who has made a special effort to build bridges of understanding between the Public Service and the Canadian public, including the private sector. Examples could include the person’s work in speaking publicly about the positive contribution the public service makes to Canada, educating citizens about what the roles and responsibilities of the Public Service, or providing programs and events that allow dialogue between public servants and their fellow citizens.
