Awards of Excellence Program
Each year, APEX highlights management excellence and leadership of federal public service executives. The Association’s awards are presented to the people who have made uniquely important contributions.
The APEX Awards of Excellence are open to all current executives in the public service. It should be noted that Deputy Heads, who are appointed by the Prime Minister, are not eligible and recently retired executives must have been working as of the closing date of nominations for awards.
Awards recipients are recognized by their peers as exemplifying the highest standards of management excellence. Thus, executives are welcome and encouraged to nominate a colleague they see as having made a significant contribution, deserving of special recognition in one of four categories:
APEX also has two awards that do not involve nominations by peers:
The Public Service Citation is an award presented annually by APEX to someone who is not a public servant, but who has made a significant contribution to the public service by building bridges of awareness and better communication between Canadian citizens and public servants.
The Pierre de Blois Award recognizes an executive who has made exceptional contributions to both public service, and to their community. This award is not presented every year, but conferred when an especially deserving individual is identified.
