speaking of APEX

Dear friends of APEX,

I am pleased to inform you that we had a successful Annual General Meeting (AGM) in mid-October.  With the technological support of video-conferencing, we had national participation, which allowed a broader immediate sharing of information.

A key outcome of the meeting was the ratification of the results of your votes for a new Board of Directors.  The names of the elected Board members can be found here.  Within the next couple of weeks, the Board members will be holding a retreat, after which we will know who will fill the Officer's positions.  It was critical that the new Board reflected the views of the membership and I want to thank those members who took the time to vote, and those members who were present at the AGM.

As you will see, we have launched our Straight Goods page for Members Only.  Thanks to a number of Associate members, who wanted to commemorate the 25th anniversary year of APEX, we have built an interactive site where our members can benefit from advice and wisdom relating to situations which all executives face.  I encourage members to check in frequently to Straight Goods, and for those who are not yet members, or whose membership has lapsed, you may wish to take this opportunity to start or revive your membership to benefit from a wide range of information on the Members Only page.

We have now launched this year’s APEX Awards of Excellence program.  These awards acknowledge excellence in leadership and management within the federal public service executive cadre.   All current executives are eligible, and can be nominated by their peers in several categories.

As mentioned in previous messages to you, we continue to roll out various learning opportunities and welcome new participants.  Aside from the program content, these sessions provide networking opportunities for you to connect with your colleagues across government, and share your experiences.

As a nip is felt in the air, we are moving on into the late Fall season.  There is a lot going on and your APEX team is engaged on a number of initiatives which we will share will you in the not too distant future.  Please feel free to contact any of us with general or specific questions or observations.  We are always ready to hear from you and take your comments on board.
